Case study

Phytolab website design

Project overview

The Costa Rican company Biotech aimed to develop a visual identity and website for its new agricultural research and testing branch, Phytolab.

Sevensoft’s team undertook the project in early 2024, dividing it into two phases. My role in the project included designing the brand’s visual identity and handling the visual, interface, and user experience design for the website.

The challenge

Biotech, a Costa Rican company, sought to develop a visual identity for its corporate branch dedicated to agricultural research and crop testing. Additionally, they required a website to inform potential clients about their services and provide news and updates related to agricultural research.

Design strategy

The logo

The first phase of the project focused on creating a visual identity and logo. We began by interviewing the client to understand their needs and expectations. This was followed by design sessions where various logo concepts were presented until the client approved a final version.

The final logo is elegant and professional, designed to inspire trust while incorporating dynamic elements. The color palette reflects essential brand values such as nature and science.

The web

The second phase of the project involved a competitive analysis of similar websites to identify best practices. Collaborative sessions with the client helped define the site’s architecture and desired sections. Using this information, we created wireframes, components, and a high-fidelity prototype.

Wireframing

A complete low-fidelity prototype was created to outline the site’s structure, element placement, and content.

This prototype underwent joint reviews with the client, ensuring their approval before advancing to the high-quality design stage.

High fidelity design

Based on the visual identity established during the first phase of the project, we defined the website’s design, selecting typography, colors, and component styles. The final design was presented to the client and received excellent feedback.

Conclusions

This project provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen my visual design and communication skills. Beyond creating the website’s structure and foundation, I developed a complete visual identity from scratch, which was seamlessly integrated into the site’s design.

Additionally, working closely with the client allowed me to gain a deep understanding of their business and specific needs, significantly streamlining the design process.
